See & Do
Tour of BritainThe Tour of Britain, the UK’s biggest professional bicycle race, is set to return to Carlisle.
Cyclists doing the Tour of Britain this year will race around Cumbrian roads not once but twice for the first time ever. Two stages of the iconic Tour of Britain cycling event will take place in Cumbria this September.
Stage three will take place on Tuesday 8 September, and will see the cyclists power their pedals from Cockermouth to Floors Castle, Kelso, after visiting Carlisle. Stage five will take place two days later on Thursday 10 September, when they will travel from Prudhoe to Hartside Fell, Cumbria, with the route including a trip through Brampton.
Carlisle Fireshow - Spellbound SensationsThis year’s Carlisle City Council Fireshow is entitled Spellbound Sensations. The established community event will once again be staged in Bitts Park, and will take place on Saturday 31 October.
A giant bonfire will be centre stage at this year’s event. Spectacular fireworks will also make sure the event goes with a bang!
A Fireshow Funday will be held in the city centre through the day, and there will be a fairground in Devonshire Walk car park.
