From the East - On the A69, about 3 miles past Haltwhistle, take the B6318 signposted Gilsland and Greenhead. At the crossroads continue straight over. Continue on about 2 1/2 miles and you enter the village of Gilsland, go under the railway bridge, continue on through the village about 500 yards, turn right at the T Junction by the Bridge Inn pub, signposted Walton, Spadeadam and Gilsland Spa. After 500 yards, take the next left, signposted B6318 Roadhead, Langham, Birdoswald. Tantallon House is 200m on the right hand side.

From the West - From the A69, take the minor road signposted Spadeadam, Gilsland, Denton, and Birdoswald. (Ignore the first sign post to Low Row and Gilsland as this takes you round the country roads). After 2 miles from the A69, you will come into the village of Gilsland, bear left at the T Junction by the Bridge Inn pub, signposted Walton, Spadeadam and Gilsland Spa. After 500 yards, take the next left, signposted B6318 Roadhead, Langham, Birdoswald. Tantallon House is 200m on the right hand side.
