Fishing

For the keen angler or the beginner, Carlisle and the surrounding countryside is a fisherman's delight.

From fly fishing in clean rivers to angling with bait at trout farms, there are facilities for all fishing needs. Day tickets for the superb waters of the rivers Eden and Caldew are available from Carlisle Tourist Information Centre, while beginners can try their luck at Talkin Tarn (permits from the warden's office) or other local fishing venues.

Eden Rivers Trust runs a special scheme whereby anglers can purchase a beat token to fish on private sections of rivers.
