Horse Riding

Carlisle offers a wide range of equestrian activities, whether you are a beginner or merely want to improve your skills on horseback.

In the beautiful countryside around Carlisle you will find a number of well-established horse riding centres, riding schools and livery stables within easy reach. Each will have a selection of horses to suit all ages and abilities - from safe and steady to forward going. Try indoor jumping, go for a hack along quiet country lanes or bring your own horse for a change of scenery. Kershope Forest has several waymarked horse routes, one of which starts at Cuddy Hall car park to the north of Bewcastle.

With regular race meetings at Carlisle racecourse and various show jumping events, you can watch or take part in a variety of equestrian activities throughout the year.
