Cumbria Tourism

Cumbria Tourism is the official Tourist Board and Destination Management Organisation (DMO) for Cumbria. It currently has a membership which represents over 3,300 visitor dependent businesses. CT is controlled by an Executive Board with representatives from Cumbria County Council, the Lake District National Park, the District Councils, Northwest Development Agency, Visit England and tourism businesses.

Our shared Tourism Strategy for Cumbria (2008-18) has a clear vision - to become Europe's number one rural tourism destination. CT manages the GoLakes website which had over 4.1 million users and generated £3 million in bookings over the last year. Other key achievements over the last year include a marketing programme generating in excess of £8 million of business, over 100 journalists hosted on visits to the county, 600 businesses advised, delivery of an Accommodation Grant Scheme and the branding and promotion of Cumbria as Adventure Capital UK.
