Emergency Services
All the emergency services in Carlisle are centrally located in the city centre. For emergencies dial 999; for non-emergencies or general enquiries, please telephone the appropriate number.
Carlisle's main hospital - the Cumberland Infirmary - is located to the west of Carlisle on Newtown Road. A bright, modern and spacious atrium contains the reception area (01228 523444) and provides access to all the wards. The Accident and Emergency department has separate access and car parking to the left of the main hospital entrance (01228 814411).
The main Police Station has recently moved to Durranhill Industrial Estate at Harraby, but retains a local base at the Civic Centre, Rickergate. Other smaller police stations are located at Brampton and Longtown (not manned 24 hours). For general police enquiries or non-emergencies, dial 0845 33 00 247.
Carlisle's Fire and Rescue Service is centrally located on Warwick Street (near the Civic Centre). For general enquiries, dial 01228 593 350.
