Carlisle Tourism Conference
9 April 2013
Carlisle is set to stage its first ever tourism conference this month. Organised by Carlisle City Council, the all-day event will be held on Friday 26 April at the Hallmark Hotel, between 9am and 4pm. It is free to attend and is targeted at local tourism providers and other businesses that have links with the tourism industry.

175 Years of The Cumberland Show

This year the Cumberland Agricultural Society celebrates by holding it's 175th show. The Cumberland Show promotes farming, countryside and food and is held on Saturday 8th June at Carlisle Racecourse.
Unlock Hidden Heritage this Winter

English Heritage is encouraging people across Cumbria to take another look at the fascinating history and secret spaces on their doorstep, as it unlocks a programme of hidden and unusual things to see and do across its sites this winter.
Restoration Work Planned for Old Town Hall

Major repair works to the Old Town Hall, Carlisle, are planned for early 2013. Carlisle City Council have appointed local building firm, Cubby Construction, to undertake the repairs to the two storey Grade I listed building and Johnston & Wright are the appointed architects. The City Council owns and manages the historic building and will be financing the majority of the £490,200 project, with support from English Heritage.
