It boasts superb open views from the patio, snug and upstairs bedroom. You can also enjoy the woodland walk within the grounds. The master bedroom has a four-poster bed, the bathroom has the 'wow' factor, and the living room retains many features.

The space

The road leading to Holly Cottage is covered by a canopy of trees which sets the scene for a romantic stay.

The living room retains its wooden beams and has a log burner to enjoy while you watch the 43'' smart TV. The curved wall bathroom has the 'wow' factor and has a state-of-the-art shower cabin with mood lighting, Bluetooth, 3 choices of shower settings and underfloor heating. The master bedroom has a four-poster bed overlooking the beautiful cottage garden. The upstairs bedroom has a choice of 2 single beds or a queen size bed with a large screen TV and has panoramic views over the fields, stream and wood. The kitchen is compact, well equipped and has a charming stable door to the front of the cottage. The snug is the ideal place to dine, with window seats overlooking the patio, stream and waterfall. The cottage is airconditioned and has an air purifying system. There is WiFi throughout.

Outside, there are a number of places to take in the views, or simply enjoy sitting by the waterfall. Perfect for an evening under the stars.

Ideally located on the fringe of the popular village of Houghton, Holly Cottage is most conveniently located for access to the village amenities, historic Carlisle, Scotland and the main road and rail networks. The local fine dining restaurant, The Lounge On The Green is only a short walk away, as is Houghton Hall garden centre, coffee shop and farm shop. Walkers regularly pass the front of the cottage whilst enjoying numerous walking routes in the area.

Hadrian’s Wall is on the doorstep whilst the Lake District is only a half hour drive and Gretna Green (including shopping outlet) only 10 minutes. Newcastle International Airport is an hour’s drive.

For cyclists, there is a good choice of cycle routes in the area and also a place where bikes can be locked.

Due to the age of the property some of the paths are a little uneven which could make it difficult for elderly or infirm guests.

Guest access

The cottage is set in its own private grounds giving you access to the large cottage garden, large patio and woodland walk. The garden contains many lovely plants and is not suitable for ball games. However, Brunstock Lane is a dead end road and has only one other property past the cottage which makes the road extremely quiet with cars.
