On Sunday 10 May 2020 the Prime Minister issued new instructions for all of us to reduce our day-to-day contact with other people, in order to protect the NHS and to help save lives.
We can all help control the virus if we all stay alert. This means you must:
From Wednesday 13 May 2020, Government guidelines state that people can “exercise outside as many times each day as they wish” and that ‘people may drive to outdoor publicly accessible open spaces irrespective of distance, so long as they respect social distancing guidance while they are there’. People must observe the two metre rule and can only be out alone, with household members or one other person not from the household (whilst observing social distancing).
From Monday 1 June in England, the public can leave their home to exercise and spend time outdoors for recreation with their household or in groups of up to six people from outside their household.

Within the Carlisle district it is important to remember that tourism businesses, accommodation, attractions and sit-in eating places remain closed. No visitors are permitted to stay overnight in any form of accommodation which includes second homes and caravan and camping.

Cumbria County Council and partners have launched an emergency support service for people at high risk of becoming seriously ill, as a result of COVID-19, and who do not have support available from friends, family or neighbours and are struggling for food, medicines or other essential supplies.
