Event Location: University of Cumbria, Brampton Road // Civic Centre
This year’s event will be at a new venue and include a march, live music and family entertainment.
The march starts at 11am from outside the Civic Centre in Carlisle and will make its way to the new host venue, the University of Cumbria’s Brampton Road campus, where the entertainment will run until 5pm.
This year’s headline act is Doctor and the Medics, most famous for their 80s No1, Spirit in the Sky. They’ll be supported by Scottish singer Allan Jay, Lisa Hart - who has performed as both Madonna and Lady GaGa at previous Pride events - Stevie D, Liam Moorhouse, DJ Marc Allan and hosting and performing, Stella the Fella.
There will also be charity and information stalls, circus skills and fairground rides. Licensed refreshments and food will be available on site.
The event is free but those who can afford it are asked to make a donation on the day.
Organisers are also marking the 40th anniversary of the first use of the Rainbow flag and are looking for 40 venues to fly the flag across the county in the build up to this year’s event. The police, fire service, local authorities and NHS are among organisations taking part.
