Carlisle Music Society (formerly North Cumbria Recitals) presents six concerts a year between September and April. At these concerts musicians of the highest calibre perform chamber music of all genres including piano and vocal recitals, string (and other) quartets and trios.
Thursday 28 March - Consone Quartet (Agata Daraskaite, violin, Magdalena Loth-Hill, violin, Elitsa Bogdanova, viola and George Ross, cello)
It's a 'welcome back' to the Consone Quartet who opened Carlisle Music Society’s 2017-18 concert season. Winners of the 2016 Royal Over-Seas League Strings/Keyboard Ensemble Prize, London-based Consone Quartet is dedicated to exploring and recreating the sound-worlds of the Classical and early Romantic string quartet repertoire through period instrument performance.
The quartet's success at the finals of the 2015 York Early Music International Young Artists Competition brought them the EUBO Development Trust prize and a place on the prestigious EEEmerging Scheme (Emerging European Ensembles), which supports young early music ensembles within the framework of the Creative Europe programme.
They have recorded their debut CD of Haydn and Mendelssohn, to be released in the autumn of 2018 on the Ambronay Label.
