The Brickyard has hosted some of the biggest names in music and comedy such as Arctic Monkeys, Foals, Kasabian, Dr John Cooper Clarke, The Fall, Stewart Lee, The Damned, The Exploited, Pigsx7, Dave Gorman, The 1975, and Kate Nash, to name but a few.
Formerly known as The Richmond Hall, or The Richmond Memorial Hall, the venue itself is over 120 years old and has been a key figure in the Carlisle music scene for many years. The Richmond Hall was built as Saint Mary’s Parish Rooms, named in honour of the late Canon Thomas Richmond of Canon Carlisle Cathedral. After a long absence, The Richmond Hall was renovated and its doors opened on new year’s eve 2002 to the new name of The Brickyard.
Located on Fisher Street in the Historic Quarter of Carlisle. This area offers a perfect blend of rich history, and stunning architecture, and is home to many fantastic independent businesses.
