Royal Northern Sinfonia is reunited with old friend Thomas Zehetmair, the orchestra’s former Music Director.
Sibelius’s Second Symphony feels like good company from the start - music that’s amiable and warm spirited. Later on there are gorgeous, expansive musical vistas to be had and Sibelius ratchets up the drama as the piece goes on, ending in blaze of glory and triumph. Mendelssohn’s ‘other’ violin concerto, composed when he was just 13, is a lively delight.
Concert begins at 7.30pm.

The Sands Centre is situated next to Hardwicke Circus, a 10-minute walk from the city centre. If travelling by car the centre is well signposted from the M6 - if travelling south use junction 44 or travelling north use junction 43 (CA1 1JE). The railway and bus stations are only a short distance away.
