Run over two and a half miles, this Listed contest has gone from strength to strength over the past 16 years to become a recognised early season destination for some of the best chasers around.
Among those to have learned the ropes here are future winners of the Grand National (Many Clouds), the Betfair Chase (Lostintranslation), the Ascot Chase (Waiting Patiently and Cyrname), and the Melling Chase (Monet’s Garden).

A short drive from Carlisle city centre, with taxis available from Carlisle Railway Station and a complimentary bus back into the city after racing.
