Mendelssohn's Elijah is one of the great choral blockbusters! The story unfolds on a grand scale, brought vividly to life by inspired writing for soloists, chorus and organ.
First performed in Birmingham Town Hall in August 1846, and conducted by Mendelssohn himself, Elijah was an immediate success and has remained at the heart of the British choral tradition ever since.
