Bar Solo, lovingly ran by a local family for the last 25 years, now serves up delicious freshly brewed coffees, chilled draft lager, cider and ale, with an enviable wine, spirit and cocktail menu, ensuring this cultural legacy lives on.
The building which dates back to 1885, and formerly the grand entrance of the County Hotel, was restored to is full glory in the mid-1990s. This unique meeting space is truly fit for a queen, having originally been designed for the use of Queen Victoria when breaking her train journey to Balmoral. It’s exquisite Burmantofts interior, complete with ceramic and mahogany ceiling and pale blue dragon frieze, was revealed again by the painstaking conservation work of the Jackfield Conservation Studio and the Decorative Tile Works.
Bar Solo is one of Carlisle’s most beautifully unique and intimate meeting places. Centrally situated on the bustling intersection of Botchergate, The Crescent and English Street, it overlooks the city’s historic Citadel Buildings and Carlisle Train Station.
Situated opposite Carlisle Railway Station, this is the perfect location to enjoy a beverage.
