Scotch Arms Mews
The Scotch Arms Mews offers dual purpose holiday accommodation. Situated near Carlisle in Cumbria, Colin & Dianne run a family holiday accommodation, offering Bed & Breakfast (April to October) or exclusive use self catering accommodation sleeping up to 14 (November to April) and now our brand new Courtyard self catering apartment (sleeps 2) in the small market town of Brampton, near Carlisle, Cumbria. There is free on site parking, safe cycle storage and access to laundry if required.
The Scotch Arms Mews was carefully renovated in 2014 and holds a Grade II listing and was first recorded as being an Inn in 1839. During our extensive renovations of the building our one of a kind historic well in the middle of our lounge was discovered, plus an ancient salt oven, which was very, very rare in past times.
Our B&B is open from mid April to early October, we then hire out our building for large groups to stay on private self catering use during the winter months.
Local Area
Approximately 9 miles east of Carlisle is the bustling market town of Brampton, Cumbria. This busy little place is just 2 miles from Hadrian’s Wall and offers plenty to see and do on the outskirts of Carlisle. Conveniently located just off the A69 which connects Brampton to Carlisle and Newcastle, the town dates back to the 7th century where it began life as an Anglican settlement and is now home to a close-knit community with a thriving calendar of local events. The Scotch Arms Mews is the only historic family run Bed and Breakfast / self catering accommodation of its kind in Brampton. We are ideally placed for visiting Hadrian’s Wall and museums with excellent facilities for walkers and cyclists. We have private on site parking so our guests will often stroll out on an evening to eat within one of the towns restaurants.
