22 year-old Hungarian pianist, Hanna Csermely, began playing the piano aged 7. Since then, she has won awards at competitions around the country including the ‘Award for Most Promising Pianist’ by Mark Tanner. She has also participated in masterclasses at Steinway Hall, received a high distinction for her ARSM diploma and performed Shostakovich 2nd Piano Concerto before accepting a place at the RNCM. Throughout her time at the RNCM, where she was under the guidance of Helen Krizos, Hanna was awarded pianist prizes in the Williams-Howard Competition, James Martin Oncken Song Prize, Underrepresented Competition and the Bessie Cronshaw Song Cycle Prize. She also performs as a soloist in notable venues including Winchester Cathedral, Festetics Castle (Hungary) and recently, performed Grieg Piano Concerto in Dorchester Abbey. Her interest in collaborative piano has lead her to split her postgraduate degree between accompaniment with Dr David Jones and solo piano with Ben Powell. She is grateful to the Margaret Allen Award for Piano and Help Musicians UK for their support.

Nathan Kenworthy is a 22 year old clarinettist from Stockport currently in his final year of undergraduate studies at the RNCM under the tutelage of Rosa Campos Fernandez and Katherine Lacy. Nathan found his passion for orchestral playing from a young age; holding the position of Principal Clarinet of the NCO, Hallé Youth Orchestra and NYO for several years, the latter with which he performed at the BBC Proms. He has also played with the Halle and BBC Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the Professional Experience Schemes at RNCM. His successes in playing hasn’t been exclusive to orchestral repertoire: aged 13, Nathan was awarded the Edith Hemingway Award for Best Musician in the North West and more recently, was a finalist in the RNCM Concerto Competition. Another recent highlight of his career was performing with the Hallé Orchestra in the Bridgewater Hall. Nathan is also involved in numerous projects at the RNCM, ranging from Opera and Wind Orchestra and he performs with his ‘Elysium’ Wind Quintet frequently. He is grateful to have received a substantial scholarship from the RNCM for both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies commencing in September.

Concert starts at 2pm.
