With Cumbria having one of the highest levels of suicide in the UK, the Baton of Hope will come to Cumbria on Sunday 7 September. There will be mini events along the way with a grand finale of live music, visual entertainment, and live art displays inside the walls of Carlisle Castle.
The baton of hope tour is visiting 20 locations across the UK as part of the UKs biggest suicide awareness and prevention initiative. We are proud that we have brought this important event to Cumbria as we have one of the highest suicide rates in the country.
The tour is a baton relay which is walked by baton bearers (people that have been affected by suicide) from Cleator Moor to Carlisle, with mini events along the way that support hope. We finish with our finale inside the walls of Carlisle Castle (free tickets available via the website).
Route is from Cleator Moor to Carlisle, calling at Goodlives Westlakes, Hopehaven Whitehaven, Whitehaven Harbourside, Bassenthwaite Sailing Club, Penrith Leisure Centre, Brunton Park, Harraby Community Centre, Carlisle East Fire station, Cumberland Infirmary, and Carlisle Castle.
