Carlisle’s Unity Festival

Annual festival celebrating unity and wellbeing

Since 2016 local organisations have created this annual Festival together to celebrate inclusion, equality and diversity and promote unity and wellbeing across the whole community.

Everyone welcome and it's all free.

The programme of events include:

Creating a community quilt for Black History Month – Exploring Carlisle’s historic cotton production and the slave trade. Hosted by Multicultural Cumbria.
Tuesday 21 to Friday 24 October, 10am-4pm at Intro (7 Paternoster Row).

Supporting your own mental health – reduce anxiety with nature connection. Hosted by Lina Mookerjee.
Saturday 25 October, 11am-12.30pm in the Assembly Room at Carlisle’s Old Town Hall.

Carlisle City Guided Walk. Hosted by Mark Costello.
Sunday 26 October, 1.30pm-2.30pm. Meet outside Carlisle’s Old Town Hall.

Make Your Own Unity Flag. Hosted by Cat Messenger.
Monday 27 October, 2pm-4pm at Restore (37 Castle Street).

Harvest Family Day – pick apples, cook, make harvest corn dollies. Hosted by Cumbria Wildlife Trust.
Tuesday 28 October, 11.30am-3pm at Gosling Sike in Houghton.

Tea and Biscuits – A quintessential English pastime with an interconnected twist: alongside the custard creams there will be sweet treats from around the world. Hosted my Multicultural Cumbria.
Tuesday 28 October, 10am-2pm at Restore (37 Castle Street).

Celebrating Unity in a writing workshop including creating haikus. Hosted by SpeakEasy.
Wednesday 29 October, 7.30pm-10pm at Source Collective (Nelson Street).

Carlisle United Football Club Open Day. Hosted by Carlisle United FC.
Thursday 30 October, 11.30am-3pm at Brunton Park.

Bring, Share & Socialise meal plus ‘Leaving It Better’ film. Hosted by Sustainable Carlisle.
Thursday 30 October, 5pm-8pm at Carlisle Vineyard Hub.

Carlisle Clothes Swap, Carlisle Repair Café, Love Myrtle Nappy Library. Hosted by these groups.
Saturday 1 November, 10am-12.30pm at Botcherby Community Centre.

‘I ME US’ documentary film – The stories of people living in Cumbria who are transgender, non-binary or gender non-conforming. Hosted by Eden Film.
Thursday 6 November, 5pm-6.30pm in the Arts Theatre at Carlisle College.
