Harmony and Heritage by Lucy Farrimond (Soprano)

Carlisle Cathedral's free afternoon recitals continue, as they welcome Lucy Farrimond to the Fratry Hall

While entry to our concerts is complimentary, we encourage contributions during the collection at the end of each performance to support both the talented artists and the Cathedral. Your generosity will help us continue to bring such events to the community. We look forward to seeing you there!

‘Harmony and Heritage’ is a programme that explores the relationship between music, place, and memory, weaving together works that reflect themes of home, landscape, and belonging. Drawing inspiration from musical tradition, folk influences, and the cultural heritage of the British Isles, the programme moves between well-loved repertoire and contemporary works, highlighting the ways in which composers have responded to history, storytelling, and the natural world.

About Lucy
British lyric soprano Lucy Farrimond has captivated audiences at prestigious venues across the UK and internationally, including the Royal Albert Hall, The Bridgewater Hall, Snape Maltings, The Stoller Hall, St. John’s Smith Square, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, and the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Paris. Featured on major television and radio networks such as BBC, ITV, BBC Radio 4, and BBC Radio 3, she has been recognised as a “rising star soprano”.

At just 21, Lucy made her BBC Proms solo debut in 2019, performing Haydn’s The Creation at the Royal Albert Hall with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra - an acclaimed performance that earned praise in The Guardian. Recent highlights include performing as a soloist for HRH The Duke of Edinburgh at Windsor Castle and appearing as the soprano soloist for Raymond Gubbay’s New Year’s Day Concert at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. She is currently working on her debut album, which will reflect her artistic identity across opera, song, and concert repertoire.

Originally from the northwest of England, Lucy is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, where she studied under the esteemed soprano Jane Irwin. Lucy is represented by Connaught Artists.

Concert starts at 2pm.
