The tour is £8 per adult (£2 discount for MyCumbria members and up to four guests). Joint entry fees to the castle and Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life are still applicable. Entry to the castle is free if you are an English Heritage member.
Booking is essential at the Carlisle Tourist Information Centre (01228 598596). Please pay for entry to the castle on the day or produce your English Heritage membership card.

Hear about the history of Carlisle’s fabulous castle, one of our city’s most iconic Grade 1 listed buildings. From William II to King David I and Edward I, to Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobite uprising. You will also hear about the Civil War and the Siege of Carlisle, Mary Queen of Scots, and the notorious Border Reivers.
The tour will start at 1pm, and last for approximately two hours.
