Carlisle Cathedral's free afternoon recitals continue, as they welcome Lydia Rae and Ben Lawrence to the Fratry Hall

Lydia Rae is a jazz singer based in the Midlands. She will be joined by local pianist Ben Lawrence.
The duo formed last year after a shared love of the Great American Songbook and Golden Age Musical Theatre tunes sparked an idea to perform this repertoire together. They also have successful solo careers as artists; Lydia releasing their first EP in September 2025 and performing with their own band as well as fronting the Regeneration Big Band, whilst Ben plays for a wide range of ensembles from function music to progressive rock - having recently finished an Album Launch UK Tour with the Joe Steels Group.
Having both been trained classically before venturing into the world of jazz, their performances have a way of spanning genres and blending sounds from music from the 20s to present day. They look forward to welcoming you to listen to their performance!
