Learn about the history of the area, the origins of the ‘bog road’, and discover why this area was chosen as the site for Carlisle’s public baths in 1883.
The tour starts at 10.30am and lasts approximately one hour.
Please note: The tour is all outdoors (there is no access to the baths building at the moment). Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions on the day.
The nearest toilet facilities are in the railway station.
Surfaces are rough or cobbled in places. There is one flight of stars on the tour route, an alternative longer accessible route is available.
Meet in the station gateway retail park car park, below the Victorian and Turkish Baths building on James Street, CA2 5AW.
There is limited car parking in the immediate area. If arriving by car, we recommend parking in the Viaduct car park and walking down James Street to the meeting point. The station retail car park is monitored and you may get a fine.
